Wild Roses

Ever since I first saw wild roses in Minnesota as a teenager, I’ve been impressed by their beauty and simplicity. To think that we humans took a flower with a single layer of petals and created all the great diversity of roses.

My grandma has a rose bush with bright pink and yellow flowers that are very close to a wild rose, though with a few more petals. I took three of the flowers off the bush, in vary stages of open flower, dried and preserved them, and then used them as beads. The result:
